Head master Matthew Tate- at the centre of a row over school uniforms- was standing firm yesterday
Matthew Tate once again had teachers at the school gates to check pupils were complying with new rules, despite an outcry from some parents who have complained of “Gestapo”-style tactics.
Hartsdown Academy in Margate, Kent, has become a battleground, with Mr Tate refusing to let pupils who flout a new dress code into school.

A dozen pupils were turned away yesterday.

Mr Tate said: “I want kids to be proud of their uniform. This school has had some disappointing results.

But the tough approach has not gone down well with some parents. Dave Hopper, 38, has withdrawn his daughter Kim, 13, from the school after she was refused entry because she did not have her blazer.

However, some parents took to social media to hit back at those protesting. John Niblix said on Facebook: “So yet more parents think the rules don’t apply to them.
"I bet they have gone through life thinking the same and have passed the trait on to their little gems.”
