Supermarket horror as five-day-old baby is PUNCHED in the face
A MAN was being quizzed by police yesterday after reportedly punching a newborn baby in the face at a supermarket.
Elsie Rose, just five days old, was on her first outing when she was punched
The suspect allegedly claimed to have mistaken five-day-old Elsie Rose Temple for a doll as parents Amy Duckers and Lewis Temple took their child on her first outing.
The couple were showing Elsie to friends in their local Tesco when they were allegedly approached by a man, said to be a neighbour’s friend.
The stranger suddenly punched Elsie in the head, leaving her with a large mark on her face, it is claimed.
The man then stepped away when the infant burst into tears.
He is said to have apologised, claiming he thought the baby was a Tesco toy doll on display in the store.

The 63-year-old was arrested on suspicion of assaulting a baby. Elsie spent seven hours in hospital before being given the allclear.
Ms Duckers, 27, said: “The punch was that hard you could hear the connection as this man hit Elsie. I just can’t believe it, especially as it was on a five-day-old baby.
“It was the first time I’d taken Elsie out since she was born. Now I’m just too frightened to take her out again.
"My seven-year-old was there and saw everything, and she was just screaming. She thought he’d killed her.”
The alleged incident occurred in Baguley, Greater Manchester.

Ms Duckers added: “I spotted my neighbour and she spotted one of her friends, who was doing some shopping with her husband.
“She called them over, saying, ‘Come and have a look at this beautiful baby’. But it was then that the man rushed across and hit little Elsie in the face.
"When he saw the mark he started being really apologetic, saying he thought Elsie was just a doll.”
