A PENSIONER was amazed to discover he could miraculously play the piano after he suffered a stroke.

Mysteriously Roy Calloway, 78, had never been able to play any musical instrument before his health setback.
He said: “I played and I couldn’t believe it. It just came out naturally and I was in shock.”
Mr Calloway, from Swansea, South Wales, has had numerous strokes after a series of heart problems.
He was given a piano after his friend died, and was astonished to discover that he could play a tune without any lessons or experience.
Mr Calloway said: “A friend of mine passed away and he had a piano.
“He had been in a band and his son asked me to keep the piano as I had the room for it.
“I sat down next to it to have a look. I just wanted to try and played it. It was just as my friend’s son was walking into the room.
“He asked if I had ever played before and that he didn’t know I could play.

“I told him I couldn’t.”

Now he has replaced the instrument with an organ.
Mr Calloway said: “It’s lovely and it has a beautiful sound.
"I haven’t found anything else I can do that I couldn’t before since having the stroke.

“However, to be able to play the piano like this for the first time is enough.”
A spokeswoman for the Stroke Association said: “Strokes affect different people in different ways.
"It can unlock abilities which have lain dormant and which the victim never knew they possessed.
“This seems a highly unusual case but we have had instances of stroke victims who have never said a word in Welsh but find they can speak it after recovering.”
