Mystery as canal boat crashes into submerged Land Rover on the River Avon
POLICE are investigating how a canal boat managed to crash into a submerged Land Rover on the River Avon.
Emergency services rushed to a canal in Worcestershire after a 4x4 submerged in the water
Emergency crews rushed to the scene of the bizarre incident near Cleeve Prior, Worcestershire, just before midday on Thursday.
Incredibly, the boat had crashed into a red Land Rover Freelander which was submerged in the water.
The owners of the canal barge called police because they were worried the 4x4 might have someone inside.
Police believe the unoccupied 4x4 could have been pushed into the water
Fire crews managed to drag the Land Rover out of the water and onto the shore using a specialist tractor.
No-one was hurt in the collision and police believe the 4x4, which was unoccupied, could have been pushed into the water.
Police shared pictures of the bizarre rescue on Twitter and said: "Grateful to other river users and local businesses who assisted police and fire with recovering the vehicle and that there were no occupants."
