MORE than 100,000 people have signed a petition calling for the Government to immediately invoke Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty - which would signal the start of the UK’s formal exit from the European Referendum.

The petition, which has so far attracted almost 113,000 signatures nationwide, was set up by Thomas Renshaw, who believes the Article should be invoked immediately after the country voted to leave the EU in the June 23 Referendum.
Mr Renshaw said: “We have voted to leave the EU. We want Article 50 of the Lisbon treaty to be invoked immediately.

"We still have two years to discuss our exit from the EU, but we do not wish to delay it any further.”
As the petition has attracted more than 100,000 signatures it will now be eligible for a debate in the House of Commons.
