Andy Strangeways, an independent member of the council, said: “She should either resign - or the Conservatives should chuck her out.
“Anyone can get into financial difficulties and build up arrears but to end up being issued with a court summons over non-payment of council tax for four years running takes some doing.”
He added: “Especially when you are someone supposed to be making decisions on how council taxpayers’s money is being spent.”

Dee Sharpe, East Riding of Yorkshire councillor, was late paying her council tax four years running
Cllr Sharpe’s history of late payment was revealed by a Freedom of Information request submitted to East Riding of Yorkshire Council.
A threat of court action is typically used as a last resort by councils chasing residents for unpaid council tax.
It usually follows two written reminders and a final notice requiring a payment to be made.
In 2015, Cllr Sharpe faced calls to resign after she was described as a “successful businesswoman” in a Conservative election leaflet despite being banned as a company director at the time.

The three-and-a-half year ban was imposed after the specialist nursing agency she ran as director and company secretary was wound up and put into liquidation.
Her company Essence Healthcare Yorkshire Ltd owed almost £60,000 in unpaid Pay As You Earn and National Insurance contributions.
Cllr Sharpe was contacted for comment but has so far not responded.
