Birmingham city centre evacuated due to 'suspicious package
BIRMINGHAM city centre was evacuated following reports of a suspicious package.
Police were called following reports of a suspicious package in Birmingham city centre
Police were called to the city centre following reports of a package found in New Street at around 3.30pm.
Trams have were blocked by police as they investigated the package.
Sections of the city centre near Grand Central train station were cordoned off.
A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "Police were called following reports of a suspicious package that turned out to be an empty box.
"It was near the entrance of New Street and lasted no more than 10 minutes."
