The conciliation service Acas announced it will meet officials from the company and the Rail
The conciliation service Acas announced it will meet officials from the company and the Rail, Maritime and Transport (RMT) union next Wednesday and Thursday.
Govia Thameslink Railway, which owns Southern, had asked Acas to facilitate talks, and the union had expressed its willingness to try to break the deadlock over changes to the role of conductors.
The RMT is embroiled in a long-running dispute which has led to strikes, with a five-day walkout planned to start on August 8.
Southern services have been delayed or cancelled for weeks because of the dispute and staff shortages, blamed by the company on high levels of staff sickness.
