Heartless crooks steal disability ramp from wheelchair-bound woman in Cambridge
A WHEELCHAIR-bound woman had her disability ramp stolen by thieves less than 60 seconds after it fell from the back of her car.
enny Seed, 49, was on her way home from a rehabilitation session when the ramp was stolen
Penny Seed, 49, was on her way home from a rehabilitation session in Cambridge when the £300 metal ramp fell from the boot of the mobility vehicle.
Her husband Richard, 58, who was driving the couple's car, carried on a few yards to turn round at the nearest roundabout so he could return to pick it up.
It took less than 60 seconds for him to reach the spot where the bright red ramp had fallen, but it had already gone and was nowhere to be seen.
Mrs Seed, who struggles to walk due to diabetes, has had to borrow another until she can buy a new one.
It is obvious what the ramp is for but they still took it
She hopes the thieves will have a change of heart and return it.
Mr Seed, who is a full-time carer for his wife, said: “It is obvious what the ramp is for but they still took it.
“It is very distressing. It must have been gone in 60 seconds."

Cambridgeshire Police confirmed they are investigating the theft, which happened at around 1.35pm on Friday.
A spokesman said: “The informant's husband was driving his vehicle and the boot opened and two ramps fell out.
“They are described as bright red steel which fold up with a red handle.”
