She was greeted by the Reverend Neil Gardner when arriving at Canongate Kirk, where Zara Phillips tied the knot with rugby union star Mike Tindall in 2011.
Her Majesty wore a double-breasted blue coat and matching hat with an elaborate bow, as well as leather gloves to combat the unseasonal chill.
Well-wishers lined the Royal Mile for the visit, which was part of the annual Holyrood Week trip to the Capital.
It began on Saturday with the official opening of the fifth session of the Scottish Parliament, with the Queen instructing panicking politicians to stay “calm and collected” in the wake of the Brexit vote.
It was five years since the pair met at the 2011 wedding of the Phillips and Mike Tindall
She said: “As this parliament has successfully demonstrated over the years, one hallmark of leadership in such a fast-moving world is allowing sufficient room for quiet thinking and contemplation, which can in turn enable deeper, cooler consideration of how challenges and opportunities can be best addressed.”
The Queen was joined at todays’s service by the Duke of Edinburgh after making the short journey by car from the Palace of Holyroodhouse.
