A POLICEMAN is facing a misconduct hearing after being accused of going on patrol wearing a hat that said “I love weed”.
Cop faces the sack after he allegedly wore a hat saying "I love weed"
PC Simon Ryan is set to face North Yorkshire Police's first disciplinary hearing, which will last for three days, that is being held in public.
The highly-regarded officer allegedly put the hat back on while on mobile patrol for Northallerton Police after being told to remove the headwear.
The hearing notice states: “Whilst on duty at Northallerton police station he wore a black woolly hat stating 'I love weed' or words/pictures to that effect.
“Despite being advised to remove the hat, he resumed wearing the hat whilst on mobile patrol."

It also claims that PC Ryan “made handwritten annotations to a document belonging to an occupant of a house that was being searched".
He faces a three-day public hearing
He is one of the first officers from North Yorkshire to be subjected to the new style of hearings which are open to the public and chaired by an independent lawyer, rather than a senior officer.
The force says the policeman’s alleged actions amount to a breach of the standards of behaviour expected from police officers.
He could be sacked after the hearing on June 13
But an unnamed colleague said: "It's a great pity that it was felt necessary to hold a disciplinary hearing over allegations which appear to amount to high spirits."
He added: "Simon is level-headed and sensible, an excellent cop who has amassed loads of experience working in the Northallerton area for many years now, and one that you want to have working alongside you."
The three-day hearing takes place at North Yorkshire Police’s headquarters, starting on June 13.
