It is footwear more suited to slippery decks on stormy seas but ballerinas tried out their signature moves in bright yellow wellies.
Performers from Birmingham Royal Ballet lined up at the barre in bright yellow wellies to support the charity’s annual lifeboat fundraiser.

The iconic boots have been worn by generations of lifeboat crews across the UK, where 4,700 volunteers stand by to save lives at sea. Last year they rescued 7,973 people.
Dancer Jade Heusen, who grew up in Devon where her great-uncle worked for the RNLI, said: “I’m proud to pull on the yellow wellies as my badge of support this Mayday.

“Lifeboat crews do a heroic job rescuing an average of 22 people a day. Most are volunteers and we need the public to dig deep so they can continue doing the great work they do.”
