THE Islamic State is plotting an attack on a host of oil fields as the barbaric group tightens its grip in Libya.

Staff at three oil fields in eastern Libya have been evacuated amid fears of an all-out assault by jihadi fighters.
The depraved death cult, also known as Daesh, has frequently attacked Libyan oil fields in recent months as it aims to get its hands on more cash reserves.
ISIS does not currently control any oil fields in Libya
But the militant group is still yet to gain complete control of an oil field in Libya as officials in the country claim oil production has not been affected.
Oil official at Wafa field in east Libya Mohamed al-Manfi said the site has been completely evacuated with fields in Tibesti and Bayda being partially cleared.
Oil has been taken over by ISIS in Iraq and Syria
Security sources revealed that militant forces have seized control of oil ports in Es Sider and Ras Lanuf after striking out from its stronghold of Sirte.
Earlier this month five members of Petroleum Facilities Guard were killed in a sickening attack by suspected ISIS fighters.
Oil production in the beleaguered country has severely dropped in recent years with it producing less than one fifth of the 1.6million barrels per day it was creating before 2011.
The news comes as the US carried out 24 strikes against ISIS in Iraq and Syria.

One strike near Raqqa in Syria destroyed two Islamic State oil pump jacks, officials said.
In Iraq, the air strikes focused on ISIS fighting positions near nine cities, including the stronghold of Mosul.
