Outraged motorist wakes to a parking fine after new disabled bay is painted around his car
A MOTORIST was left outraged to find a new disabled parking bay painted around his car - along with a £110 ticket on his windscreen.
Blundering council chiefs painted a disabled bay around Matt Armstrong's parked car
Fuming Matt Armstrong, 46, said the blunder was probably the result of a request from a former neighbour for a disabled spot two years previously.
The space was created outside his home in West Norwood, South London where Mr Armstrong had left his Renault Clio overnight.
Mr Armstrong said: "I was absolutely livid but it's the sort of thing you expect from Lambeth Council.
The council have cancelled the £110 fixed penalty notice
"It hadn't been a good week financially and then I was hit by this fine.
"It was dated March 31 and the painting must have been done either during the night or early in the morning.
"Nobody saw or heard anything."

The markings were added while Mr Armstrong slept and a fine issued
Mr Armstrong, a stage technician at the Adelphi Theatre, added: "My neighbour asked for a disabled bay for her husband about two -and-a-half-years ago.
"They never put one in and her husband died about two months ago.
"It must be quiet upsetting for her. They never delivered the parking bay while he was alive and her husband has only just recently died."
His wife, Ali Bell, 45, who works in the costumes department at the same theatre, made repeated failed attempts to question Lambeth over the fine.

Mr Armstrong added: "My wife has tried contacting them numerous times. They've passed us from all the usual pillars and posts.
“We haven't been able to speak to anybody. We've made an official complaint and we haven't had an apology.
“I'd love to see them try and make me pay it. I would like them to apologise to me and my neighbour.
"We don't need a disabled parking bay here, a man who needs one up the road already has one."
A spokesman for Lambeth council said: "We'll cancel the fixed penalty notice and are investigating why there was some confusion around the marking of the disabled bays."
