Twitter users delighted as George Alagiah returns to BBC News after cancer battle
BBC JOURNALIST George Alagiah was welcomed back to television screens this evening with a swarm of delighted Twitter posts after receiving the all-clear for cancer.
George Alagiah returned to the BBC this evening
Mr Alagiah returned to the corporation's News at Six segment after announcing last month that his cancer treatment was over.
The BBC newsreader had been diagnosed with bowel cancer, which had spread to his liver and lymph nodes, last April.
But tonight he returned to his news slot to a rapturous welcome and well wishes from his fellow journalists and BBC viewers.
Finishing this evening's show, Mr Alagiah told viewers: "It's good to be back with you."
