Colds top the hate list in our winter of discontent
WHAT we hate most about winter includes dark mornings, getting up early to de-ice the car – and people in summer clothes moaning they are cold, a poll reveals.

A top 20 list of winter woes puts colds and flu top of our hate list.
Nearly three out of four, 71 per cent, of those surveyed say being ill is the worst part of winter.
Next most hated, by 49 per cent, is the cost of energy bills.
The study, by price comparison website uSwitch.com, found the weather never fails to depress.
Brits also hate de-icing the car

Forty-nine per cent say dark mornings are unbearable and getting up before sunrise is the worst part of the chilly season.
More than a third, 38 per cent, fear slipping on ice and a third, 33 per cent, loathe cold homes.
Forty-four per cent even confess to being annoyed by all the festive hype around Christmas.
Nine per cent also complain of too many repeats on TV.
Tom Lyon, of uSwitch, said: “As a nation we love to moan, especially about our long list of winter woes.”

We could save an average £295 a year by switching energy suppliers, yet only five per cent do so to prepare for winter.
We are more likely to turn up the heating (51 per cent), buy a warmer duvet (38 per cent) or get more jumpers (26 per cent).
Tom added: “Almost half of consumers get annoyed by cold weather and high energy bills, yet just one in 20 switches energy provider to prepare for winter.
“Changing supplier takes only a matter of minutes and can save an average of £295 a year – putting cash back into your pocket to help to pay for Christmas gifts.”
