Alan Wrigley, who works in the Rochdale branch, said he shed a tear when he heard.
“I’m a bit shocked but very proud,” he said.
Cusomer Danny George took the photo because he was so impressed by the great-grandfather’s manner and fund-raising.
Alan spends £1,000 a year on sweets, which he offers to customers.
Donations go to Springhill hospice, Rochdale, which cared for his late wife Norah, and Francis House, a Manchester children’s hospice which cared for his late grandson, Benjamin.

Ex-soldier Alan has also done a bungee jump for charity.
“His next hope is to carry out a sponsored wing walk,” said Mr George, 26, who has a daughter Isobel, three, with wife Mary.
“I shook his hand because I was so overwhelmed by how much he does without any fanfare.”
B&Q manager Steve Torson said: “Alan is a great guy.”
