Keep boiling tap water, says firm
HUNDREDS of thousands of people in Lancashire must continue boiling their tap water this week because it contains infectious bacteria.

Tests at a water treatment plant found traces of the bug cryptosporidium, which causes sickness and diarrhoea.
Water firm United Utilities first issued the warning on Thursday but said customers must continue boiling their drinking water to remain safe for at least a few more days.
The company wrote on Twitter: “It’s going to continue into next week, carry on boiling, we will be contacting customers about compensation.”

Routine tests at Franklaw water treatment works in Preston detected traces of the bug.
Houses in Blackpool, Preston, Chorley and the Fylde coast have been affected.
Customers are advised to boil water and then let it cool for all drinking, food preparation and teeth brushing as a precaution until further notice.
Martin Padley, the firm’s chief scientific officer, said: “We apologise for the inconvenience but the health of customers is paramount.”
