ONE in six Britons has dodged work to watch a sporting event, a study reveals.

Thirteen per cent of workers admit bunking off several times.
With a summer of sport ahead – including Wimbledon, the Ashes cricket Tests and the Tour de France – employers are being urged to be good sports.
Jobs website Monster, which carried out the poll, said: “Our latest research serves as a gentle warning to employers.
“The summer of sport starts this weekend with the FA Cup.
“Instead of fighting the inevitable, employers should be aware of upcoming sports events and start an open dialogue with employees to maintain a happy workforce and avoid any confrontations.”
One worker said: “If we could have the telly on in the background or have a sweepstake, we could still get on with our jobs.
“It would make the office a bit nicer.”
