Former Wimbledon doubles champion Bob Hewitt jailed for six years for rape
WIMBLEDON star Bob Hewitt was jailed for six years today for rape and sexual assault of three girls.
Bob Hewitt told one girl, “rape is enjoyable” as he assaulted her.
The attacks took place in the 1980s and 1990s as the Australian-born former Grand Slam doubles champion coached children in South Africa.

No rapist or violator of children should be able to hide behind his age
Hewitt was found guilty of two charges of rape and one of sexually assaulting a minor at South Gauteng High Court in Johannesburg in March.
The 75-year-old, who had a stroke in 2010 and a heart attack in 2011, had pleaded for a non-custodial sentence.
But Judge Bert Bam criticised him for not showing remorse, saying: “No rapist or violator of children should be able to hide behind his age.”
