Couple marry mid-marathon: Athletes Laura and Paul wed at half-way point of London run
TWO athletes who started the marathon yesterday as single athletes finished it as husband and wife.
Paul and Laura head to their marathon nuptials
Laura Harvey and Paul Elliott tied the knot at St Katharine Docks, near Tower Bridge, then set off on another 13 miles to complete the event.
Once they crossed the finish line in front of Buckingham Palace the couple, from south London, went to Brighton to begin their honeymoon.
“Everyone thinks it’s a bit mad but we wanted to do something different,” said Paul, 41, who was raising money for cancer research.
Laura, 34, a physiotherapist, wore a tennis dress for the event while Paul donned a suit jacket and leggings.
Paul, a human resources adviser, said: “We booked a hotel with a hot tub so we can sit in that for about four days to recover.”
They will then jet off to the Bahamas to continue relaxing.
