National Trust spend £3m on car park as it is home to the best view in Britain
THE National Trust has spent £3million buying a rundown car park – because it has one of Britain’s most spectacular views.
The car park overlooks Rhossili beach in South Wales
The former field overlooks the miles of golden sands at Rhossili on the Gower peninsular in South Wales.
The beach has been voted the best in Britain, third in Europe and ninth in the world by travel website TripAdvisor.
The trust normally looks after our stately homes and threatened landscapes.

We believe this will secure the future of a very important area of natural beauty, renowned for its wildlife, environment and archaeology.
But manager Paul Boland said the £3million paid to private landowners was money well spent.
“We want to ensure we provide Gower with a first-class car park for a first-class destination,” he said.
“We believe this will secure the future of a very important area of natural beauty, renowned for its wildlife, environment and archaeology.”
The trust already owns a large section of the Gower coastline.
