Classic Morris Minor car with just 190 miles on the clock sells for £17k at auction
A CLASSIC Morris Minor tucked away in a garage for 47 years with just 190 miles on the clock has sold for £17,000 – nearly double the expected price.
Pride and joy…Joe with his iconic car
Grandfather-of-three Joe Drydal, 69, a retired car dealer from York, snapped it up after five minutes of bidding.
The previous owner, who bought it for £656 in July 1968 when a gallon of petrol cost 30p, kept the car in pristine condition.
I would have paid a lot more for it
He refused to drive it for fear of damaging it and locked it up in a garage for 47 years.
Mr Drydal said: “I learned to drive in a Morris in 1962 when I was 17 and my first car, the same year, was a Morris.
"I’ve always loved them.
"I would have paid a lot more for it.”
