First baby of year born after two minutes
SCOTLAND’S first baby of the New Year made a dramatic appearance just two minutes into 2015.
The happy family are all smiles with newborn baby Lucas
Thrilled parents Ashley and Mark King were celebrating when their 7lbs 3oz son Lucas was delivered at the Princess Royal Maternity Hospital in Glasgow at 12.02am.
His birth came as a shock to the couple because he was four days overdue and they were convinced they were “in for the long haul”.
Child care worker Ashley, 27, said that her baby being born on New Year’s Day made it “special”.
Lucas becomes a little brother to two-year-old Gracie.

Mark, 28, a nightshift worker at Sainsbury’s, said he could not be happier at the birth of his son.
He said: “I’m delighted and over the moon. I didn’t think it was going to happen, I thought we were in for the long haul.”
Meanwhile Lucas Brown arrived at Raigmore Hospital in Inverness 18 minutes later, three weeks early and weighing 6lbs 5oz.
Dad Paul, 26, is a rigger on the North Sea’s Brae Alpha platform and had flown offshore on Tuesday – but returned to be with partner Jackie Hamilton and their son.
Jackie, 25, a sales assistant, said: “He’s lovely. We wanted a wee baby boy, a little brother for his sister Lacii, who is three. She was born three weeks early too. It will always be a story for us to tell.”
Paul added: “I was no sooner offshore than I got the call to come back. Lucas was not for waiting.”
