Millionaire businessman Mr Dewani, who was cleared by a court in South Africa of arranging the murder of his wife Anni in 2010, landed at London's Gatwick airport yesterday.
The 34-year-old bisexual left the airport through a side entrance – guarded by police.
Although his current location is unknown, it is understood Mr Dewani's parents have returned to the family home.
Prakash and Snila were present at the Western Cape High Court for their son's acquittal earlier this week.

Mr Dewani's current location in Britain remains unknown
Avon and Somerset Police are now investigating an incident outside the property on the private estate in the exclusive Bristol suburb.
"We are aware of an incident outside a house in Westbury-on-Trym and we are investigating," a force spokeswoman confirmed.
A patrol car was spotted driving through the electronic gates and up the driveway earlier this morning.
Twenty minutes later, a police officer drove away.
Anni's family have been left angered by Judge Jeanette Traverso's decision to clear Mr Dewani after ruling the prosecution's case was "flawed".
Her sister, Ami Denborg, said she felt "failed" by the justice system and would be "haunted" by the judge's decision.
The family are currently debating whether or not to launch a civil action against Mr Dewani in the UK.
Mr Dewani has refused to comment after being cleared of the honeymoon murder plot.
