Has the Northampton clown returned in Portsmouth? Mystery circus act spooks residents
A CREEPY clown has been terrifying residents on the streets of Portsmouth in full costume and make up.
His antics are reminiscent of the sinister Northampton Clown and hundreds of spooked people have flooded Twitter with photos of the mystery man wandering around the Hampshire city.
Student Lily Scanlan said she was left frightened when he rode past her on a bicycle speaking with a "creepy" voice.
The 19-year-old continued: "It was really weird.
"He said something to me, like he was putting on a voice. It was really creepy."
Shop assistants at a dance clothing store, Stage Door were left scared when the spooky clown paid them a visit.

Shop worker Karen Wilcock described the "strange" moment.
He said: "He will not be welcome if he comes back again.
"Whatever was he thinking? Coming into a shop that sells tutus for two-year-olds and standing there not saying a word.
"It could be a publicity stunt. Whatever it was, it was very strange."
Andre Guedeney, manager of cafe La Croissanterie said the creepy character cycled up to him and asked him for a cigarette in a strange voice.
Mr Guedeney, 34 said: "It was very odd."
Residents have also taken to Facebook to report sightings of the creepy clown and his antics.
One person wrote: "He was down just standing there holding a balloon.
"It was very scary if you don't like clowns."
Meanwhile, Nicole Lipizzi warned her Twitter followers: "People of Portsmouth beware of the kid dressed in a suit wearing a clown mask and holding a balloon."
The spooky circus act mirrors the prankster behind the unnerving clown who roamed the streets of Northampton last year.
Film and documentary maker, Alex Powell became an internet sensation after he was first spotted dressed as the movie monster from Stephen King's horror 'It' on Friday the 13th last year.
