England international lacrosse player scoops 10 A*s and an A in her GSCEs
AN ENGLAND international lacrosse player learned she has scooped 10 GCSE A*s and an A yesterday.
With exams behind her, Emily Brooks, 16, has spent the summer on a US tour with the England Under-19s and now wants to play in the sport’s World Cup.
And her schoolmate, Katherine Edwards, who plays lacrosse for Wales Under-19s, scored five A*s, two As and three Bs.
The teenagers both attend independent Westonbirt School in Tetbury, Gloucestershire, where the game is popular.
When it came to revision, I had to put the lacrosse on hold and prioritised my time
Emily, of Malmesbury, Wilts, said: “When it came to revision, I had to put the lacrosse on hold and prioritised my time. When the exams were done, it was bags of training.”
Katherine, from Didmarton, Gloucestershire, said: “I’m really pleased.”
Among other exam high scorers was Lisa Williams, 16, of Congleton High School in East Cheshire, who was left fighting for her life in a coma after a road crash last April.
Doctors suggested she drop classes but the determined pupil studied on and achieved seven A*s and four As.
