Woman and husband guilty of killing wife's parents are jailed for life
A WIFE and husband were jailed for life yesterday for murdering her parents and burying them in the garden.
Susan Edwards, 56, and husband Christopher, 57, who took £245,000 of their victims’ money, will each serve at least 25 years in jail.
The pair were found guilty last week of shooting dead William Wycherley, 85, and his wife Patricia, 63, at the elderly couple’s home in Mansfield, Notts, in May 1998.
The trial heard that for 15 years the debt-ridden Edwards’ kept up the charade that the couple were alive, claiming their benefits and pension and selling their home.
They fled to France when the plot began to unravel in 2012.
Ex-librarian Susan had held a grudge against her parents for “swindling” her out of a legacy from her grandmother.
Jailing the pair, Mrs Justice Thirlwall said at Nottingham Crown Court: “These were shocking crimes.
“You knew they wouldn’t be missed if they disappeared, and they weren’t.”
