72 holes, 1,200 miles, 24 hours: Golfer plays in four countries in just one day
IT SOUNDS like every golfer’s dream – to travel the country playing some of its most famous courses.
But amateur Roger Southam, 53, had no time to stop to admire the view.
It’s a dream come true
He had to play 72 holes across 1,200 miles in 24 hours.
Roger, from east London, raced by helicopter between September’s Ryder Cup venue Gleneagles in Scotland, Lough Erne in Northern Ireland and Celtic Manor, South Wales.
The 23-handicapper also almost made it to London Golf Club, Kent, but bad weather meant he was diverted to The Manor House Hotel and Golf Club in Wiltshire.
Roger hopes to raise £50,000 for children’s charity Sparks.
He said of his challenge: “It’s a dream come true.”
