Ukip leader Nigel Farage set to take on Nick Clegg over Britain's future with the EU
Ukip leader Nigel Farage will go head-to-head with Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg in a debate tonight on Britain’s future in the EU.
The hour-long showdown on LBC Radio is seen as a “key moment” in the fortunes of Mr Farage’s anti-Brussels party.
A Ukip source said: “Nigel has waited 20 years for this so he’s very up for it. He’s going to nail the lie that Britain would be unable to prosper outside the EU.” Mr Clegg’s team declined to comment on the Lib Dem leader’s preparations.
Tonight’s show is the first of two by the pair in the run-up to Euro elections on May 22. The second will be live on BBC2 next Wednesday. PM David Cameron and Labour’s Ed Miliband are not taking part.
