Two men found dead in car were stabbed to death
A DOUBLE murder investigation has been launched following the deaths of two men.
The men were pronounced dead at the scene
Police were called by London Ambulance Service just before 1:00am to Montague Road, Leytonstone, north east London, following reports of two injured men, the Metropolitan Police said.
Post-mortem examinations found that one, aged 21, died after being stabbed in the neck while the other, aged 20, died from stab wounds to the chest, shock and haemorrhaging, Scotland Yard said.
Neither man has been formally identified and officers are still contacting all their next of kin.
A spokesperson for the London Ambulance Service said: 'Every effort was made to resuscitate the two men.
'Despite the best efforts they were pronounced dead at the scene.'
Detectives are appealing for witnesses and information, and enquiries are ongoing to identify the victims and to inform next of kin.
Police refused to confirm reports that the two men had been shot, adding that the cause of death was not immediately clear.
An incident room has opened in Barking under Detective Chief Inspector Neil Attewell from the Homicide and Major Crime Command.
Post-mortem examinations have been scheduled to take place from 2pm this afternoon at Walthamstow Mortuary.
Mourners have left cards and flowers at the scene.
One set of the tributes reads: "R.I.P Aaron, always in our hearts, miss you. From Jordan and Mum xxx."
Another says: "Can't believe you're gone, Love Cherelle X."
There have been no arrests at this time and enquiries continue, police said.
