Royal Navy seizes £100 million cocaine haul off Puerto Rico
THE Royal Navy seized £100million of cocaine off Puerto Rico yesterday.
Sailors from HMS Lancaster uncovered more than half a ton of the drug after boarding a speedboat near the Caribbean island.
Three suspected smugglers threw 22 bales of drugs overboard but they were recovered by divers. The captured boat was then sunk by Navy gunfire.
Defence Secretary Philip Hammond said: “This is HMS Lancaster’s second counter- narcotics patrol to tackle the drugs trade and the ship’s company should be proud of this achievement.”
