Administrators announce that HMV will honour vouchers
HMV customers will be able to use vouchers and gift cards in stores from today, administrators have confirmed.
Deloitte previously said they were invalid after the chain went into administration last week. But after assessing HMV’s financial status it will now honour vouchers. Thousands were bought at Christmas.
Joint administrator Nick Edwards said: “I am pleased to confirm we are able to honour gift cards.
“I can also confirm all money raised by HMV for various charities will be paid.”
More than 4,000 HMV jobs are at risk after the collapse. But chief executive Trevor Moore said he was “convinced” its future could be secured.
Around 50 potential buyers have reportedly come forward, including Hilco, which owns HMV Canada. And this week Universal Music, Warner Music and Sony said they may cut the cost of CDs and DVDs to help save the chain.
