Holiday home tree house that’s the height of luxury
A BUILDER yesterday unveiled Britain’s most luxurious tree house complete with a log burner, 60-inch plasma TV – and a Jacuzzi.
Chris Whalley, 54, created the £60,000 hideaway using mostly driftwood gathered from a nearby beach.
It has plumbing and electricity and comes with all the creature comforts of a five-star hotel. But amazingly it sits 20ft above the ground – making it the tallest habitable tree house in Britain.
Talented Chris, of Blean, Kent, started designing his high-tech house on a computer in March. It is located among holiday log cabins he built six years ago.
It was a bit ambitious and I’m glad it’s over
To keep costs down he used scraps of wood from a builders’ merchants and driftwood from nearby Whitstable beach.
Father-of-six Chris and wife Michelle, 48, also salvaged scrap materials to build cupboards, a table and bed.
Chris, who is letting out the house as part of his holiday business, said: “It was a bit ambitious and I’m glad it’s over. But we have had nothing but good responses so far.”
