Whipped... Wayne Rooney sees new horse come last
WAYNE and Coleen Rooney had a day at the races yesterday to see one of their horses in action for the first time – and it came last.
Manchester United star Rooney, 26, saw his new two-year-old colt Pippy finish last in the 1.35pm Manor House Stables Lily Agnes Stakes at Chester. He and Coleen, also 26, were joined by several of his team-mates, along with a party from his former club Everton.
It was the first time the Rooneys have seen any of their three horses – the others are Switcharooney and Tomway – in a race.
At £63,600, Pippy is the most expensive but he was always towards the rear after a slow start and never got into the race. He was well-backed at 9-1 and Rooney admitted he had “a few quid” on him – but the race was won by All Fur Coat at 9-2.
