147mph OAP tells traffic cops: I’m too old to be fined
A 68-YEAR-OLD led police on a 147mph car chase for almost four miles before telling them that because he was a pensioner they should simply let him off.
Owen Swift refused to get out of his Jaguar XKR coupe, worth £81,000, when the police finally caught up with him and said he should only get a ticking-off.
Scarborough magistrates heard yesterday that he had raced past police on the A64 at Malton, North Yorkshire, in June last year.
Swift, a company director from York, was found guilty of speeding, banned from driving for nine months and fined £700.
He was also told to pay costs of £665.
