Wayne Rooney bet probe
POLICE were today investigating a second alleged Wayne Rooney betting scandal.
The brother of his teammate Michael Owen won £700 betting on Rooney staying at Manchester United just one hour before he signed a new contract. There is no suggestion that Rooney or Owen knew about the bet.
Aircraft fitter Terry Owen, 40, said: “It had nothing to do with Michael.”
Rooney’s father, also Wayne, 48, is accused with nine men of placing “suspicious” bets on a game last December. All “vigorously” denying the allegations.
