Reliving Bobby Charlton's fightback
THE FIRST pictures from BBC drama United recreate an iconic moment – future World Cup hero Bobby Charlton plays with young fans after the 1958 Munich air disaster, in which 23 people, including eight Manchester United players, were killed.
Charlton, of Ashington, Northumberland, who is played by Skins actor Jack O’Connell in the film, was just 20 at the time.
He went on to become a key member of the victorious 1966 England World Cup team. BBC2 will show United later this year.
