Divorce reform: ‘Talk' order in divorces
COUPLES who split from April must attend mediation to settle disputes before being allowed to fight them out in court.
The requirement applies already to couples granted legal aid to settle rows over issues such as division of assets or changing the contact time with children.
But the Government will extend this to all couples except those with issues like child protection or domestic violence.
Justice Minister Jonathan Djanogly said: “Mediation is quicker, cheaper and more amicable, particularly where children are concerned.”
