Royal Wedding: Prince William and Kate Middleton...in metal
THE first commercial medals to commemorate the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton were revealed yesterday.
Pictured above in face and reverse view, they will be sold in a protective display card at around £3.
They are minted in a gold-coloured base metal, weigh 26g and are 38mm in diameter. The medals, available from Wednesday, are stamped: Celebrating the wedding of HRH Prince William & Catherine Middleton.
On the reverse are the venue and date of the wedding and the initials of the couple.
Phil Majevadia, 50, manager of Birmingham Mint where they were produced, said: “It’s such a big event so we wanted to do something for it. Fortunately, we are able to offer the medal at virtually cost price.
“We’re also allowing schools and charitable organisations the opportunity to sell them and raise funds for themselves.”
