A supply teacher has pleaded guilty to taking over 100 upskirt photos of teenage girls at schools he worked at. Abusali Rahman, 36, was arrested in June 2025 after a parent raised the alarm when an image of their child in school uniform was circulated online.

Rahman admitted to 21 offences at Bolton Crown Court via video link from jail on Thursday (May 29). These included 12 charges of taking indecent photographs of children by upskirting, distributing an indecent photo of a child, making indecent photographs of children and voyeurism. Rahman - a British national of Bangladeshi ethnicity from Salford - worked at secondary schools across the North West after qualifying as a teacher in 2023 until his arrest in 2025. He has not worked at the schools since then and has been held in custody.

According to Greater Manchester Police, the charges related to 13 girls aged 13 to 16 at several schools. All affected schools and the victims' parents or guardians have been informed, and necessary safeguarding personnel have been made aware of the investigation, they added. Officers said they had yet to identify four victims.

Emma Kehoe, defending, said: “Mr Rahman knows this is a prison sentence but was going through a mental health crisis at the time.”

She asked for a psychiatric report ahead of sentencing on September 1.

Detective Chief Superintendent Rebecca McKendrick, head of GMP’s public protection division, said: “Our OCAIT team has painstakingly worked through the evidence to build a case against Rahman.

“The victims have been at the forefront of our investigation, and we have kept their parents and guardians and their schools informed and supported throughout this process.

“Protecting children remains our highest priority, and we will continue to work closely with and meeting the victims, schools and local authorities to ensure there is support in place for anyone affected.

“Anyone who wants to report an offence or has any information on this investigation can still call 0161 856 1737 where you can speak to specially trained officers, via 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 quoting Operation Pomerie.”

Alex Mann, senior crown prosecutor for the Crown Prosecution Service, said: “This was a horrifying case involving an abuse of trust that affected multiple young victims.

“Rahman fell well below the standards expected of his role – first by sharing sexualised deepfake images online, before escalating to upskirting and voyeurism offences.

“Following a comprehensive GMP investigation, prosecutors were able to piece together a compelling case that left the defendant with little choice but admit his crimes.

“The guilty pleas entered today means he will face the consequences of his appalling actions, without victims having to prolong their suffering by reliving their experiences at trial.”
