Costa to takeover 26 Starbucks across the UK - full list
The popular coffee chain has announced a new partnership.

Costa will replace Starbucks in 26 places in the UK as part of a deal with Cineworld. Costa is a chain known for its coffee, cakes, and range of lunch options. Now, film-lovers might be able to make a stop-off at the chain before heading to watch a movie.
Costa has announced a new 10-year partnership with Cineworld, which will see the chain take over previously Starbucks-operated sites. The rollout will begin this summer, with the majority of sites expected to open by the end of 2026.

Existing staff will be offered the opportunity to retrain in line with Costa’s standards.
The new Costa stores will have a mix of takeaway and sit-in options, with self-service screens and a dedicated collection area.
Costa Coffee express and corporate sales director UK&I Ander Miller, said that the collaboration enabled the firm to “further strengthen our presence within high-footfall leisure environments, aligning with our strategy to meet customers wherever they are.”
Cineworld director of retail, Tim Sparrow, added: “Costa Coffee is re-energising our coffee spaces and strengthening the role they play in the cinema experience.”
“Together, we’re focused on quality, consistency and reach, creating warm and welcoming environments that enhance the visit while keeping cinema at the heart of everything we do.”
Costa first started in 1971 when its founders, Sergio and Bruno, first arrived in London.
In 1978, their demand for coffee grew, so they moved to South London where the brothers transformed a huge plot of grassland into a brand-new roastery.
The new site was located on Old Paradise Street, Lambeth, where the Costa Coffee roastery remained until 2017.
By 1981, the brothers opened their first Costa Coffee shop in Vauxhall Bridge Road.
