M4 traffic RECAP: Closure in both directions as emergency services rush to scene
A motorist on the M4 told the Daily Express police cars "whizzed past" their vehicle.

M4 drivers are facing heavy traffic this evening as emergency services respond to a "police-led incident". The major UK motorway is closed in both directions between junction 17 (Chippenham) and junction 18 (Bath).
Emergency services, including Wiltshire Police, have rushed to the scene. Drivers have been warned by National Highways to expect delays to their journey. Motorway traffic cameras show vehicles at a standstill on approach to the incident. One driver on the M4 told the Daily Express that police cars "whizzed past". National Highways said in a statement: "The M4 in Wiltshire is closed in both directions between J17 (Chippenham) and J18 (Bath) due to a Police led incident. Emergency services including Wiltshire Police are in attendance. National Highways Traffic Officers are also on scene to assist with traffic management."

Motorists urged to 're-route'
National Highways has urged the motorists to "re-route" their journeys in case the closure impacts them.
It said: "If this closure impacts on your planned route, please allow extra journey time. Plan ahead, you may wish to re-route or even delay your journey.
"Further information is available from National Highways by visiting our www.trafficengland.com website and travel apps, or via our regional X feed. Our 24/7 contact centre team is also available to provide up to the minute information on 0300 123 5000."
