UK pub collapses into liquidation - closed earlier in April
The pub owners cited rising renovation costs and staffing issues as the reasons behind the closure.
The company behind a beloved pub in Norfolk, which closed its doors earlier this month, has entered liquidation. TWM Norfolk Limited, the company which operated The Queens Head in Wymondham, is being wound up voluntarily after appointing liquidators, it has been revealed.
The pub's owners, husband-and-wife Nick and Victoria Anderson, cited rising renovation costs and staffing issues as the reasons for the closure. Mrs Anderson said the business had become unsustainable after tensions between the owners and the kitchen staff soured and spiralling emergency repair costs.
"It was a perfect storm of problems," she said.
She added: "Issues with kitchen staff, rising renovation costs and people buying less. We had to do emergency repairs to the pub to keep it safe and we found more problems.

"We also lost our cellar cooling system and then our central heating and costs were escalating," Eastern Daily Press reported.
"Everything was positive at Christmas, but I noticed a change in people's buying habits, people were spending less. We tried to move forward by simplifying the menu, while keeping the flair.
"The kitchen agreed initially, then they refused and the relationship started to break down."
She added that all of the Queens Head's staff have been paid.
According to the notice published on The London Gazette website, Richard Cacho of RCM Advisory Limited, which is based in Norwich, was appointed as liquidator on April 21.
Plans to refurbish the pub in Bridewell Street were given the green light by South Norfolk Council last year. Works to refurbish it began earlier this year, with scaffolding erected outside.
According to Google Reviews, the pub has a rating of 4.8 out of five, with reviews praising its portion size and "excellent staff". One wrote: "Amazing main meals, extremely generous portions for such high-quality dishes."
This comes after a UK tyre garage business, which has been operating for almost 30 years, has also fallen into liquidation. A notice in the London Gazette explained that Loughton Tyres, based in Essex, had appointed liquidators earlier this month. The notice was published on the evening of 15 April, with Ninos Koumettou and Constantinos Pedhiou appointed as joint liquidators. There is no news at this stage on how many jobs could be affected by the decision.
