A busy road through Essex is closed after two separate collisions on Saturday, February 21.

The M11 in Essex is closed southbound between J7 (Harlow) and J6 (for the M25), near Stansted Airport.

A car has reportedly collided with the central reservation barrier. In a separate incident, a van has also collided with the central reservation barrier and overturned coming to rest on it side.

National Highways says 'allow extra journey time'

"Allow extra journey time if in the area," National Highways East said in a post on X.

Lane one opened on northbound and southbound routes

National Highways East said in a post on X that lanes two and three remain closed in both directions for clean up and barrier repairs.

Lane one on both the northbound and southbound routes are running.

Diversion route issued

National Highways has advised diverted traffic to follow the solid circle diversion symbol:

- Exit the M11 southbound at J7 onto Hastingwood Interchange

- At the interchange, take the 2nd exit at the roundabout onto the A414 London Road (signposted Harlow)

- Continue on the A414 for 10.5 miles until the A10 interchange

- At the interchange, take the 1st exit onto the A10 southbound (signposted Hoddesdon/Cheshunt/London)

- Continue for 7 miles until the M25 interchange

- At the roundabout, take the 1st exit to join the M25 clockwise

- Continue until J27 and then take the 2nd exit to re-join the M11 southbound at J6

Lanes two and three are closed on northbound carriageway

National Highways said lanes two and three (of three) are closed on the northbound carriageway due to the damage caused to the central reservation barrier which is being made safe.
