The UK is home to some incredible castles, dotted all across the country. These castles, some in better condition than others, are steeped in history and sometimes folklore. They are spread all across Britain, inviting history enthusiasts to make their way all around the UK to marvel at these magnificent buildings that have managed to stand the test of time. Some of these castles are almost 1,000 years old, and visitors feel truly transported back in time when they visit them. 

From the magnificent highlands of Scotland to the charming countryside of the South of England, castles are not hard to find across the UK. Each of them tells a story, charting the lives of the lords and ladies who lived there, and the epic battles that once took place where tourists now stand taking photos. To truly get a feel for how magical these castles can be, they need to be seen with your own eyes. But until that happens, here is a taster.

Leeds Castle in Kent is over 900 years old and has been excellently preserved over many centuries. This magnificent place, located on a small island across a moat, was once owned by a Saxon royal family.

Blenheim Palace is located in Woodstock, Oxfordshire and is truly something special to look at. Outside, you will marvel at the serene gardens and outer architecture. Inside, you will discover some insanely beautiful classic interior design that oozes wealth. It is the birthplace of Winston Churchill, and there are plenty of opportunities to learn about his life there.
