Nestled along the shores of the River Wyre, lies a small but stunning village. This pretty coastal spot boasts impressive views of the seafront with a promenade overlooking the beach and salt marshes. Knott End-On-Sea is a little known seaside haven where the Wyre Estuary meets the Irish Sea. Less than a half an hour drive from Blackpool, it combines a quiet coastal charm with scenic views.

Wyre View has become one of the most popular streets in the village, with house prices averaging at £245,000 over the last year. Salt marshes have become home to waders and wintering geese, with the Rossall Point Tower offering two viewing decks and binoculars for bird watchers.

The picturesque views from the sea wall span miles into the distance, so far that visitors can even see the Ingleborough mountain. With views of the second-highest mountain in the Yorkshire Dales, this panoramic stretch is a sight to behold.

Renowned artist LS Lowry, famous for his distinctive style of painting of urban landscapes with matchstick men, was honoured with a statue tribute at the village’s ferry slipway. The painter was a regular visitor in the 1950s and 60s, with Knott End appearing in lots of his artwork. The stainless steel sculpture by the sea shows a life-size silhouette figure of a man walking, followed closely by his dog.

The nearby ferry service offers a 10 minute trip to nearby coastal town Fleetwood. Many visitors take a day trip to the Fleetwood Museum, which showcases local history and maritime artefacts. The deep sea gallery tells the story of the coastal town’s world-famous fishing trawlers, along with over 40 elaborate ship models.
