Horror as woman charged with arson after fire at home with four children inside

A woman has been charged with an arson attack in Birmingham that could have endangered the lives of four children. The fire broke out at a property in Deykin Avenue in Witton on Monday shortly after 4pm.

Fire crews and other emergency services rushed to the scene to find a girl and three boys in the house, later confirming that none suffered injuries, BirminghamLive reports. Safoora Bi, 38, of Deykin Avenue, has now been charged with arson with recklessness endangering life. She is due to appear at Birmingham Magistrates' Court on November 19. A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called to reports of a property fire on Deykin Avenue in Witton at 5.04pm on Monday. We sent an ambulance to the scene.

"Four children – a girl and three boys - were assessed by ambulance staff. But they did not require further treatment and so were discharged at the scene."

West Midlands Police have urged anyone with information to get in contact with the.

A spokesperson said: "A woman has been charged with arson following a fire at a house in Birmingham.

"We were called alongside emergency service colleagues to the address on Deykin Avenue just before 5pm on Monday (November 17).

"Four children were at the address and thankfully weren't injured. Safoora Bi, aged 38, of Deykin Avenue, was arrested and is due at Birmingham Magistrates Court this morning charged with arson with recklessness to endanger life.

"Anyone with information should call 101 quoting log 3176 of 17 November."
