There's no denying it, Wetherspoons pubs have become a ubiquitous British staple. The floral crockery, the slightly sticky tables, the peculiarly priced pints at £4.12 or £5.89 - Tim Martin's venues stand prominently on high streets, in shopping centres and airport terminals, satisfying the nation's appetite for affordable beer and microwave cuisine.

It's hardly surprising, then, that the countless Americans visiting these shores regard Spoons as an essential experience on their journey through Britain's cultural landmarks. Buckingham Palace before lunch, Harry Potter World in the afternoon, followed by an evening at the Four Candles, enjoying three small plates for a modest £14.99.

Britannia rules, naturally.

American influencer Amber Kacherian has become the latest to step through those famous Spoons doors seeking authentic British culture, having been "highly recommended" the establishment by "locals in England".

Amber, appearing in her video alongside her partner, is instantly struck by the sheer size and magnificence of the venue, remarking on the considerable distance to the toilets and describing the carpets as "very unique".

The huge pub was once a theatre

The pair show admirable boldness, selecting the all-day brunch with additional black pudding, alongside a steak and kidney pie.

When the food arrives, Amber is immediately startled by the appearance of baked beans. Both were left puzzled over what to do with the gravy, but thanks to a helpful pair of nearby diners, they eventually realised it was meant to be poured onto the pie.

Despite giving mostly positive reviews to the food, Amber seemed less than impressed with the black pudding, grimacing as she tasted it.

After their meal, the duo summarised their dining experience in two words: "Authentic" and "cultural".

While some Brits might argue that Spoons isn't an "authentic" British pub due to its status as a large chain, there's no denying its cultural significance in the UK.

The American visitors were also taken by the atmosphere and social environment of the pub.

Amber noted that while America is very fast-paced, she appreciated the more relaxed vibe in Britain, saying: "People here... go to restaurants and sit, have a pint, and talk for hours.

"That is a wonderful thing about this culture. In America, we're always in such a hurry, but here it just feels so nice and laid back."
