Spotting a rare detail on a 50p coin that might be sitting inside your wallet could earn you some serious cash.
Rare coins are valuable due to their scarcity, historical significance, minting errors, or limited production.
They can be worth significantly more than their face value and are often sought after by collectors and investors.
One such rare coin, with an ultra-rare squiggle imprinted on one side, was sold on eBay at almost 500 times its face value.
The collector’s item has received numerous bids in an online auction and eventually sold for £245.
The unusual coin shows a swimmer’s face, making it incredibly rare, with bidders excitedly willing to pay the hefty amount.
The "Lines Over Face" Aquatics 50p coin was initially minted in 2011 but later modified to make the swimmer's face more visible.
Created by designer Jonathan Olliffe, the coin has been described by the Royal Mint as "extra special."
More than 30 billion coins are estimated to be in circulation in the UK.
The Royal Mint has been creating coins since AD 886 and, as such, people across the country own coins that are no longer in use.
